As a serving soldier in the T.A I was called up a day before ww2 started as a private in the 8th batalion middx. regiment,in late 1939 I and many others had completed our intensive training for a posting to france, we were given seven days embarkation leave,on returning from that leave,we were told to go hom,e and collect our birth cirt.this dully completed o be told were to be taken off the draft,as they had an War office order, that no soldier serve in France under the age of 19.I would be glad to hear from any one whom could provide any thing further to this.
