In 1939 a War Offfice Order stated that no one under the age of 19 years of age should serve in France.

As a result I was taken off the draft and sent to an holding unit which was Barkers Ground next door to The All English Tennis Ground in Wimbledon.

I should like to hear from any other members whom suffered a simerlar fate.
