Chainsaw SculptureThe Chainsaw isn't an item that most consider of use to an artist, well, at the West Show two men are trying to prove otherwise. For the last few years there's been a very recognisable sound in the air at the West Show, that of a chainsaw, and 2007 was no different. ![]() The results of Pete's chainsawing. Timber Harvesting Manager, Pete, has been visiting Guernsey for a number of years to give demonstrations of his use of the chainsaw to create sculptures of various things including detailed animals. Having been using a chainsaw for over 20 years he has become adept at using the tree felling device to carve sculptures and now makes over 30 appearances a year doing just that all over the UK. For the first time this year he is joined by novice local sculptor Jason, who has had his first opportunity to use the chainsaw in this way at the 2006 show. Jim Cathcart spoke to Pete about his unique use of the chainsaw....
