The sights, sounds and tastes of the Indian sub-continent were on offer at the Guildhall on Sunday, in one of Gloucester's biggest celebrations of Asian life and culture.

The Asian Mela 2003 was the fourth event of its kind and was hosted by Manny Masih, presenter of BBC Radio Gloucestershire's Sangeet Mahal programme, and Saima Mohsin of BBC Points West. This year's Mela was bigger and better than ever before, with music and dance galore plus exhibitions by Asian organisations and businesses. See our fab photo gallery by clicking on the link below:

Admission to the Mela was completely free but tickets were required to attend the following events: Yoga, Indian Cookery Demonstration, Indian Head Massage and Indian Modern Dancing and a screening of the film Bend It Like Beckham. Parmjit Dhanda, the county's first Asian MP, also made an appearance and BBC radio Gloucestershire's Manny Masih joined in with the crowd as they enjoyed the banging Bhangra music. | Parmjit Dhanda and Manny Masih |
