Gloucester celebrated the Children in Need telethon's 25th anniversary in fine style with a massive star-studded pop concert. Brian McFadden was first on the impressive Barbican Car Park stage. Flanked by two huge video screens, he was greeted by thousands of screaming fans.

The freezing November night was soon forgotten as Brian worked his pop magic, performing a handful of songs for his adoring audience. Can you cancan? Brian was followed by the Skandi Girls, a statuesque foursome who showcased their Christmas single Do The Cancan, a hyperactive pop version of the skirt-waving dance routine.  | | Songstress Keisha White |
Local talent was represented by rocking sets from The Last Taxi, Munestomp and The Unbelievable Something, all of whom raised some seriously loud cheering from their home county crowd. Rising star Keisha White brought a little r'n'b groove to the evening. With a powerful, soulful voice and bags of stage presence, she's definitely a name to watch for the future. Giant yellow hands were the fashion accessory of the night. Hundreds of them waved at the stage as the music and lights transformed the normally nondescript car park into an instant music festival. "It's absolutely unbelievable," said BBC Gloucestershire's Dawn Leigh. "We don't want to go home - we want to stay here." Bear necessities  | | Brian McFadden |
Of course, it wasn't long before Pudsey made an appearance. The yellow fellow even managed to grab a cuddle with TV's Nicky Chapman, who co-hosted the event with BBC Gloucestershire's Mark Cummings. As proceedings drew to a close at ten'o'clock, and the crowd began to disappear into the freezing night, it seems a good time really was had by all. "What a great night," said 18-year-old Janice from Tredworth, "I think I've lost my voice from screaming at Brian McFadden. It was worth it though!" Pudsey seemed to agree. Although doesn't speak much, the bandaged bear had a big smile on his face at the end of the night, and a thumbs-up for everyone who came to his party.
