He's excited because Gloucester has been chosen as one of three venues across the country to host a free concert celebrating the 25th anniversary of BBC Children in Need. It will be held at the Barbican Car Park, Ladybellegate Street on Children In Need Appeal night (Friday November 19). BBC cameras will be there to broadcast parts of this huge event nationwide. Chart topping bands Three chart-topping bands will perform alongside three local acts at the event. The starring acts will be announced nearer the time so watch this space! Councillor Martyn White, Gloucester City Council's Cabinet Member for Culture, Learning and Leisure, said: "The concert is great news for residents and great news for the city. It's set to be a great night and we hope residents and local businesses support the BBC Children In Need Appeal charity." How to find the concert... 
Record-breaking Last year, the nationwide appeal raised a record-breaking £30m, from which BBC Children in Need gave grants to registered charities, alongside voluntary and community groups, supporting youngsters aged 18 and under. They include children with disabilities or psychological disorders and those who have suffered from serious illness, abuse, poverty or neglect. In Gloucestershire, 11 organisations received grants totalling £231,120, including the Special Friends Club in Kingswood, which received a grant of £11,745 over three years to provide a variety of outings for children with learning difficulties. Share Young People's Counselling Service has received £8,400 over two years, helping to make counselling accessible to 11-14 year olds in Gloucester. Major concert Sarah-Jane Bungay, Children In Need producer for BBC West said: "This is the fourth year that we have held major concerts in support of the BBC Children In Need Appeal. These regional events reach and enthuse parts of the UK often overlooked by national broadcasters. It all culminates in a night of unmissable television on BBC One, in which the whole nation can feel a part of the fantastic fundraising that goes to help children in need of our support."
