A cold and glassy opener, Saariaho’s Winter Sky emanates the clarity, sense of mystery and ethereal beauty of a clear sky on a winter’s day. Next, to Lili Boulanger’s d’un matin de printemps which effortlessly captures the fresh energy of a spring morning. Representing summer, Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream captures the frivolous nature of the mischievous Puck, causing havoc during a hot summer night. Finally, Grieg’s In Autumn conjures a sweeping storm with bold brass breaking through the clouds.
