With exuberant rhythmic and melodic inventiveness, tremendous swagger, euphoria, and rigorous majesty, Schumann’s Third Symphony encapsulates the wonders of the Rhineland, the place from which he had just returned.
Partnering this momentous work we explore Brahms’ magnificently powerful Tragic Overture, and the eminent Jonathan Biss then joins BBC NOW and Ryan Bancroft in Mozart’s rambunctious Piano Concerto No. 21.
