With his first album Coming Home, Leon Bridges went from washing dishes in Texas to playing for President Obama at the White House.

The singer's ability to channel the smooth soul sounds of the 60s earned him comparisons to Sam Cooke and Marvin Gaye, not to mention multiple Grammy nominations and a sought-after spot on the soundtrack to Big Little Lies.

He recently released his second album Good Thing.

The track Bad Bad News is a response to "people who've told me personally that I couldn't do anything with music," the singer told the BBC's Mark Savage.

The singer was joined by singers including Rit Ora and former BBC Sound of... winner Ray BLK at an event in London, aiming to bring women in the creative industries closer together.,

She hosted a similar Women In Harmony event in Los Angeles.

Bebe hopes they will encourage conversation and collaboration amongst female writers, singers, and producers.

Speaking to the BBC, she said: "I think we need to celebrate each other more. The problem is, is that 84% of songs on the radio are male-dominated. 16% is female.

"So of course women are going to get a little bit weird and act more competitive than normal because there’s no room for us."

A study earlier this year, external showed that in 2017, of 2,767 songwriters credited in a sample of chart hits, 87.7% were male and only 12.3% were female.

"The way we make it better is we make more room for ourselves, and we make it 50/50," said Bebe.

    Quote Message

How do you do that? You build relationships. You support other females. You call each other, you have hits with each other, you collaborate with each other.

"You throw dinners, you reach out a hand - instead of it being this competitive thing where we’re trying to kill each other".

Tha Carter V, the much discussed follow-up to 2011's Tha Carter IV, was set for release last week but failed to surface online.

Back in 2016, disgraced US businessman Martin Shkreli claimed he'd bought the rights to the album, which perhaps goes someway to explaining the delay.

Now in a personal message to the fans from his own studio, the rapper has confirmed it will be with us on his birthday later this week.

Wayne's birthday is actually Thursday but let's assume he'll still be up partying at around midnight, as that's when the album will drop, according to his website.

"I heard there was a misunderstanding about the release date of Tha CV," he said.

"I heard y'all got a little mixed up and y'all thought it was going to be released like last week or something.

    Quote Message

Well, I would like for you to know that since y'all stuck with me and hung in there anyway for like the past four, five years, through all of this - y'all got me feeling like Tiger Woods with this comeback - but on my birthday, I actually have something special.

    Postponed - not cancelled, people.

The singer - whose real/actor name is Donald Glover - has been forced to set back some of the dates on his This is America tour after a suspected foot injury caused him to curtail his gig in Dallas at the weekend.

As Pitchfork reports, his business partner Fam Rothstein confirmed the news on Twitter after The Forum venue in Inglewood, California announced his upcoming gig was postponed.

Fam claimed CG would be "back before the year's out."

Glover said earlier in the year this tour would be his last.
