  2. Petite Meller unveils new video The Flutepublished at 15:58 BST 19 August 2016

We'll say one thing for eccentric French singer Petite Meller - she doesn't make boring videos.

After the promo for Milk Bath, external saw her floating in a pink lake and bathing in the white stuff, the video for new single The Flute is also a feast for the eyes.

Shot in Mongolia, it features multiple bonkers costume changes, several moose, a small flautist child in traditional dress and even a dance routine. What more could you ask for of a Friday?

The video for Tove Lo's new single, Cool Girl, has arrived - and, as befits a song inspired by the movie Gone Girl, it sees the star going slightly barmy.

She shaves her head! She sets fire to a hotel room! She pounds on the roof of a perspex coffin! And she is also the person inside the coffin!

    Wait... what?

Speaking to BBC, Tove explained that the video is about the two warring sides of her personality.

"I’m making a short film, that's tied to the album and Cool Girl is part of it," she said.

"It builds on a story of me falling in and out of a relationship with my darker alter-ego side.

"In Cool Girl, it’s the part where I’ve set myself free from her – or pretended that I have, at least.

"I’m actually dancing in it, which is very strange for me, but it was so much fun. I’m very excited for everyone to see this."

  5. Judge spares Aretha Franklin's house from demolitionpublished at 15:25

Aretha Franklin's Childhood HomeImage source, WMC Action News 5

The destruction of Aretha Franklin's childhood home has been temporarily halted by a judge in Memphis, Tennessee.

The Queen of Soul was born in the back room of the house, and lived there for two years. However, the property was declared a "nuisance" in 2012 after falling into a state of disrepair, and the owner was given until this month to come up with a plan to pay for repairs, otherwise it would be torn down.

Memphis Heritage volunteers then boarded up the house, and launched a grass roots movement to save it.

Now Judge Larry Potter says enough progress has been made to stop immediate demolition and he will consider two competing plans to save the property.

One, submitted by the current owner, Vera House, would see the home turned into the headquarters of a blues radio station. The other would involve moving the entire structure closer to the Stax Museum in Soulsville, Tennessee.

It's five years since Jesy, Perrie, Jade and Leigh-Anne were given a lifeline at the X Factor Boot Camp.

Having been rejected as soloists, they were given a day to form and rehearse as a band. Incredibly, they made it through to the finals and became the first ever group to win the show - despite having to change their name from Rhythmix to Little Mix half-way through the series.

The band have been celebrating their first half decade on Twitter, posting a video of their favourite moments from the last five years.

  9. Liam Gallagher to release solo material?published at 14:34 BST 19 August 2016

    Liam GallagherImage source, Q Magazine

Liam Gallagher has been pretty quiet since the demise of Beady Eye two years ago - apart from sporadically calling brother Noel a potato on Twitter, external - but it seems like he's about to announce some new music, via the medium of a printed magazine. How quaint.

"It’s been boring without me, hasn’t it?” the star is quoted as saying on the cover of the new Q Magazine.

The publication is teasing the article on its website, external, saying Gallagher will discuss how he "got his life back together" after finding himself "in crisis after the split of Beady Eye".

Liam is now "making plans for a dynamic new chapter," the preview adds.

We'll find out more when the issue goes on sale next Tuesday.

  10. Ellie Goulding releases Bridget Jones trackpublished at 14:12 BST 19 August 2016

    BBC Radio 1

Ellie Goulding artworkImage source, Ellie Goulding

As we revealed yesterday, Ellie Goulding has a new single, Still Falling For You, out today and it's lifted from the soundtrack to Bridget Jones' Baby.

"I loved the first two Bridget Jones movies and I still watch them now," the singer told Scott Mills on Radio 1 this morning.

"Bridget Jones is part of my childhood and I thought, 'yeah, I'd love to be a part of this'."

    Quote Message

I love doing things for films, I had so many film soundtracks when I was young... And I do love to sing a ballad. This song just feels like the summary of everything that happens in the film and everything's that's happened to Bridget in her life. She's talking about having this love for someone that doesn't go away and [how] two people can be very different but they come together still and that's basically what this song's about.

Get the track on Apple Music, external and Spotify, external now. The full soundtrack's out on 16 September, the same day as the film.

But what we really want to know is if the film's any good or just (Bridget Jones-sized) pants?

"I didn't know what to expect," admitted Goulding, "but it's actually so funny, it's honestly hilarious. I can be quite a hard critic with comedy but I was really crying with laughter."

    It's a good start...

    Michael BubleImage source, Michael Buble

We don't know exactly what got Michael Bublé looking so thoughtful here (did he leave the iron on?), but following yesterday's big Bublé announcement the singer has shared the first song from his forthcoming new album, and it's the title track, Nobody But Me.

    Here it is...

The album - which also features the Meghan Trainor duet Someday - is due on 21 October, and it's kind of a big deal for Bublé, as it's his first in three years and follows vocal surgery.

The singer said he's "very proud of the new songs", adding: "Having the opportunity to co-produce was a joy for me, personally."

Not only that, there's also a movie coming, external - Michael Bublé Tour Stop 148 - on 25 September.

And soon female fans will even be able to smell of Bublé (or, at least the way he thinks his fans should smell)... He's launching a new women's fragrance next Thursday.

  13. Dolly Parton releases her 43rd albumpublished at 13:04 BST 19 August 2016

    Dolly PartonImage source, PA

Country music legend Dolly Parton is back today with her 43rd (!) album, Pure & Simple.

Released 50 years after her first appearance in the US charts, the album sees her going back to her roots, with a stripped-down band and a rich Nashville sound.

The songs are largely inspired by her 50-year marriage to Carl Dean. She told the BBC the romantic theme was triggered by the couple renewing their vows earlier this year.

"I thought, well, this would be a good year to write an album of love songs," she said. "I’ve never done that before. I’ve usually had a story song or a gospel song, but this was all love stories."

Listen to the title track below, and watch out for a full interview with Dolly on the BBC News Website this weekend.

  14. Twin Atlantic 'inspired by glam rock'published at 12:50 BST 19 August 2016

    Twin Atlantic

Scottish rockers Twin Atlantic have just released their new single, The Chaser - a gritty, growly singalong powered by shuddering handclaps and clattering cowbells.

There's a noticeable Glam Rock theme to the song, and the band admit that's no mistake.

"We started going back through why we were in a band, why were playing guitar, all the moments we grew up with and there was a lot of David Bowie and early Glam Rock," they told Radio 1.

"It was such a big part of our upbringing. We all used to go mad for T-Rex."

  15. Mollie King returns with her debut solo singlepublished at 12:27 BST 19 August 2016

Mollie King is hoping to prove there's life after The Saturdays, having just debuted her first solo single, Back to You.

When she announced the track earlier this week, the Daily Mail called it a "thinly-veiled swipe" at her ex-boyfriend, M&S underwear model David Gandy.

Speaking to Scott Mills on this morning's Radio 1 Breakfast Show, Mollie admitted she had mined her own life for inspiration.

"Because I've written this track it feels really personal to me. And because it's about a situation that I've personally been thorough, it's crazy hearing it on the radio."

    There's already a video too...

Mollie says she's still getting used to working without the rest of The Saturdays, though.

"It is really weird doing this without them," she told Scott.

"Part of me likes to pretend that they are here and they've just nipped out to get a coffee. That's the way I'm getting through it."

She also chatted to Scott about the time she spent at a songwriting camp on a yacht in the south of France with the likes of Kesha; and whether Scott should set her up with Calvin Harris (she said "go for it").

  16. All-female Bowie tribute at Festival No 6published at 12:10

    David BowieImage source, PA

Portmeirion's Festival No 6 has announced details of a David Bowie, external tribute which will take place on the main stage on Sunday, 4 September.

An all-female line-up - including Charlotte Church, Jacqui AbbottLucy Rose and Nadine Shah - will perform the Thin White Duke's biggest hits, backed by the world-renowned Manchester Camerata orchestra.

Conductor and composer in residence Joe Duddell explained why he'd chosen a cast of women to front the concert.

"One of the first things I thought about was David Bowie's voice and his image," he told BBC 6 Music.

"He was a very androgynous figure and, certainly in the early music, his voice is very high. If we were going to keep the songs in the same key, I was thinking that female singers would be the way forward - and we've stuck to that.

"It'll be fascinating to see what their interpretations of the songs will be."

Every night at Britney Spears' Las Vegas show, she pulls up an audience member, straps them into a leather harness and dances around them during the song Freakshow.

Last night, she selected former Teen Wolf star Colton Haynes - only she failed to recognise him.

"What's your name? Colton? Give it up for Colton everyone!" she screamed after the song finished. "You're an amazing dancer, oh my goodness."

And while she might not be a fan of Teen Wolf (or Haynes' other TV show, Arrow) she certainly appreciated his physical attributes.

"Wow, call me anytime," she said. "So beautiful - and his ass!"

Writing on Twitter later, Haynes could hardly believe his luck.
