"Are they still serving soup downstairs?"

The Blossoms have finished their soundcheck at the BBC Introducing anniversary show in Brixton, and they're ready to be fed... But not before we grab them for a chat.

The band say they first got in touch with BBC Introducing "almost as soon as we started" in August 2013, sending them an early demo of Blown Rose,, external which later ended up on their debut album.

"They didn't play it," says singer Tom Ogden. "They must have thought we were hopeless."

But they persevered - sending in several songs until, finally, BBC Radio Manchester played Madeliene - which later became a b-side.

"We were buzzing. There was a real excitement around it," Ogden recalls.

They've now scored a number one album and a Mercury Prize nomination... but every so often, someone at BBC Introducing stumbles across one of those early demos.

"I got an email another week," says Ogden. "It said, ‘Someone in the East Midlands has listened to your track – but it doesn’t guarantee you a play!’"

You can hear the Blossom's set on Radio 1 from 19:00 BST tonight. We'll have more backstage gossip for you on tomorrow's Music News Live.

Yeezy's The Life of Pablo album is the first to be certified gold in the UK from streaming alone.

It means the rapper's 2016 record has been listened to more than 100,000 times, according to data from the Official Charts Company.

The album was only released on JAY-Z's Tidal service to start with.

Streaming was first used to make up the UK charts in 2015 with Kanye's gold certification awarded by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI).

The Life of Pablo entered the Official Albums Chart in May last year at number 30 and has spent 47 weeks in the Top 100.

The rapper cancelled his album tour in November and subsequently spent some time in hospital, before returning to the public eye for a highly-publicized meeting with then-new US President Donald Trump.

Come back with a follow-up record sooner rather than later please Kanye, as Music News LIVE is not quite the same place without you.
