    Tomorrow night sees BBC Introducing mark its 10th birthday wish a big party at Brixton Academy.

    Performing on the night will be some of the top former students from the Introducing Academy who've gone on to do... well... alright.

    George Ezra will headline a night of musical celebration in London, alongside the likes of Blossoms, The Big Moon, Everything Everything and Slaves. Plus a very surprise guest...

    They've been holding a candle-lit vigil and playing some of his hits at his very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in LA.

    Earlier we brought you Tom Petty talking to 6 Music's Matt Everitt about how he kept the band together for all those years (scroll down).

    Now, in part two the singer opens up about how it became harder in later life to write songs due to having "so many things that can grab my attention.

    "When I was 21 nothing grabbed my attention but rock 'n' roll or a girl!"

    He added that he still "takes the time to do it well".

    Tributes have been flooding in today for Tom Petty after the singer died last night in California aged 66.

    BBC Entertainment reporter Ian Youngs has been delving a little deeper into how and why Tom was so well loved.

    We knew about his musical influence, but did you know that the late singer also proved the inspiration for a ridiclous scene in the original rock mockumentary Spinal Tap and the name of a wild night out - according to rapper Big Boi.

    Here are some of those who took inspiration from Tom Petty and what they had to say about the great rocker.

    Including DJ/producer Mark Ronson, who says he "really, really, really, really, really dug Tom Petty."

    In the wake of the Las Vegas attacks, Ariana, Lady Gaga and Moby have been calling for tighter gun control laws.

    Now Madonna has had her say. She's posted the above picture alongside a lengthy message about what she describes as an "unspeakable tragedy", urging us all to "change our consciousness".

    She said: "What happened in Vegas is an unspeakable tragedy. 💔And these acts of seemingly Random violence are happening with more and more frequency.

    "And the chaos pain and suffering in the world is increasing exponentially. And YES its too easy to buy a GUN in The U.S. or have access to automatic weapons. And this needs to stop!!

    London indie-rockers Vant, have announced an "indefinite hiatus" (also known as a split) after releasing just one album.

    The band, formed by singer Matie Vant in 2014, delivered the news to fans via social media, external (be careful there's a swear at the end).

    They said they were departing "to explore other musical worlds for a while".

    Some good news though, Vant also revealed they will play a small handful of live dates and will release a 'mini album' of six tracks - one of which is called Beetlebum, external.

    So, either Blur's lawyers need to have a word or its an approved cover version.

    Back in 2002 Tom and his band The Heartbreakers were inducted into the prestigious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, alongside the likes of Talking Heads, Isaac Hayes and the Ramones.

    After Ariana Grande's earlier response to the horrendously tragic scenes in Las Vegas, more US music stars are calling for tighter gun control

    New York producer Moby posted the above image of a gun, alongside the slogan 'Make It Stop'.

    He also posted the following message.

    "How many more mass shootings will it take? How many more lives ended? How many more families destroyed? We need sane, rational, sensible #guncontrolnow, external."

    He added: "Mass shootings are evil, passing legislation that enables them to happen even more so."

    Fellow New Yorker Lady Gaga agrees with Ariana Grande (scroll down) that the mass murder should be described as 'terrorism'.

    In a series of tweets, she also appears to attack US President Donald Trump, adding "blood is on the hands of those who have power to legislate."

    We've had Adele, we've had Michael Buble, we've had Harry Styles (well not quite, he's coming next month) and now the latest star to head up a BBC special is Sam Smith.

    The Oscar, Brit and Grammy-winning artist will take part in a world-exclusive hour-long entertainment show for BBC One, presented by Fearne Cotton.

    He will perform new tracks from his forthcoming album, such as Too Good at Goodbyes which he performed at the end of Radio 1's Live Lounge Month (above) and some which he's apparently never previously performed live for a TV audience.

    Sam says: “I'm so honoured and thankful to the BBC for giving me this opportunity to showcase some of my new music from my album in this amazing, intimate setting.

    "I can't wait to sing some old songs and have a big old sing along with everyone."

    On Monday night, stars including Keith Urban, Alison Krauss, Vince Gill and Amy Grant paid their respects to those killed at the Las Vegas festival by performing at a vigil in the home of US country music Nashville.

    The Nashville Candelight Vigil For Las Vegas took place at the Ascend Amphitheater in the Tennessee capital.

    Vince (pictured below, alongside wife Amy) said: "I'm honoured to be here as a voice for the innocent.

    "May we never lose our voice for innocent people."

    The singer has announced three live dates to support a reissue of his 2014 solo album Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes on 8 December.

    He'll be joined at the shows in Los Angeles, Oakland and Houston from 12-17 December by Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich and audiovisual artist Tarik Barri.

    Ariana Grande has posted a heartfelt message for the victims of the Las Vegas music festival shooting.

    Police are working to establish the motive behind a mass shooting which left at least 59 dead and another 527 injured.

    The singer, whose own gig in Manchester in May was attacked in an act of terrorism, killing 22 people, is calling for greater "love, unity, peace & gun control."

    She adds that people should "call this what it is = terrorism."
