Isaac, who's on tour in the UK in January, sings: "I'm terrified that maybe / I wasn't cut out for this..."

Walter Becker's family have responded to legal action filed by his Steely Dan bandmate Donald Fagen over the ownership of the band's name and musical rights following his death in September.

Donald's legal action accused Walter's estate of reneging on an agreement, signed by the band in 1972 which apparently said one member of the duo would purchase all shares of Steely Dan if the other member quit the band or died.

"We believe the agreement to which Mr. Fagen refers in his suit - drafted 45 years ago - was not in effect at the time of Walter's death," Walter's estate said in a statement to Rolling Stone.

The statement added the legal action was "riddled with half-truths and omissions" adding it "misleadingly fails to state that the day after Walter died, Mr. Fagen had his lawyer send a demand letter to Walter's estate."

The US rapper did not hold back when telling Radio 1 DJ Charlie Sloth why she would rather be stuck in a lift with the President than with Taylor Swift.

Don't worry Taylor, it's nothing bad against you.

In answering the rapper burst into an impromptu song, detailing exactly why:

"Do you hate my skin? / Do you hate that I'm successful and a minority/ Guess what...my parents are immigrants and they ain't going nowhere / Are you so upset that I got money and I'm not white - yeah yeah".

We can't bring it you here as the language is quite tasty but if you don't mind that you can listen back to the whole show via the Radio 1 website.

Nick and The Bad Seeds will be joined by the legendary Patti Smith, St Vincent and Courtney Barnett at the All Points East festival next year.

The event takes place in London's Victoria Park on 3 June.

So, well worth fighting your way through all the bearded hipsters to the front if you're going to be at that one.

For those who may be find the categories a bit confusing - record of the year is for the actual recorded product and the song award goes to the people/person who wrote the song.

All in all then it's being regarded as a bit of a snub for Ed Sheeran over three of the 'big four' music awards.

His chart-topping album Divide has only been nominated in the best pop vocal album section, while smash hit single Shape Of You is up for best pop solo performance only.

Coldplay are also up for two awards but it's Jay-Z (below) who has dominated the nominations with eight, including album, song and record of the year, while Kendrick is up for seven prizes.

Ed Sheeran's Divide misses out...

But he is on the list for best pop vocal album, alongside the likes of Coldplay, Lana Del Rey and Lady Gaga,

Luis Fonsi's Despacito has to be favourite for song of the year, up against Jay Z's 4:44, Julia Michael's Issues, 1-800-273-8255 by rapper Logic and That's What I like by Bruno Mars.

Again, no Ed in sight.

Shape of You will have to make do with being in the best pop solo performance category instead.

"I met him in the hallway and he didn't say too much. He said: 'Great effing band name,' which I really appreciated."

Well, other bands have probably had worse introductions to wild man of rock Liam Gallagher .

Sam Sheas is the lead singer of Californian rock 'n' roll band Warbly Jets - handpicked by Liam to support him on his current US tour and number four in our new series Newbie Tuesday.

We spoke to Sam after the Jets' first date in San Francisco, where the band opened for Our Kid™ for the first time.

"It went amazingly well, San Fran is always pretty good for us and everybody seemed to really enjoy it," says Sam (the curly-mopped one above).

"I think it's a really good fit for us, playing to fans of rock music and a great band like Oasis and Liam himself and it's kind of in the alley of what we are doing and people seemed to understand that.

Initially forming out of New York the band came together in Los Angeles and are a delicious genre-bending mix of classic rock and Britpop era Oasis and Blur, psychedelia, shoegaze and even some electronica thrown in for good measure.

Sonically, there are touches of Primal Scream, The Dandy Warhols, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and even Kasabian.

"It's always been experimenting with styles of music and sounds and textures and instrumentation, especially on this record," says Sam.

"I like to think we have good music tastes and we pull references from some obvious and some from less obvious places."

He added: "It's always been about using the studio as a tool, i don't think we've approached writing or recording a song trying to stick too closely to some genre. We're always experimenting."

Their self-titled debut album was released in October and the band are heading to SXSW next March before heading on a tour of China.

And it sounds like we may be hearing more new music from them in 2018.

"We're definitely focusing on playing shows right now with the album but we have some other things in the works and I think we'll pop into the studio in New York in the new year.

"But I live in the studio and our bass player Dan has a studio at his house that we work out of."

And by "live in the studio", apparently he means that literally.

"I couch surf for the most part because I'm in between towns."

Warbly Jets will be hoping their music is welcomed as readily in living rooms across the UK too.

Country legend Dolly Parton and (dad) rocker Josh Homme are returning to CBeebies this festive season.

They'll each be reading another bedtime story, with Dolly back on New Year's Eve to read Stuck in the Mud by Garry Parsons and Jane Clarke.

Josh's story School for Dads by Charlotte Guillain and Ada Grey will arrive on Wednesday 3 January.

The story will see a father and daughter swap places in a celebration of dads in all their shapes and sizes.

Mourners have said goodbye to AC/DC co-founder Malcolm Young, with brother and bandmate Angus carrying his guitar as he led his coffin out of St Mary's Cathedral in Sydney.

The legendary guitarist died aged 64, earlier this month, after having suffered from dementia for several years.

Also in attendance were the band's lead singer Brian Johnson and his wife Brenda (below), while fans also showed their respects outside.

The Aria awards have wrapped up (or are just getting started for those off to an after-party...).

Harry Styles apparently took a detour on the way to picking up his award in Australia to kiss Lorde on not one, but both cheeks.

The move from the Styles icon himself - who of course used to date Lorde's pal Taylor Swift - has caused many to hyperventilate online.

Noel Gallagher's third solo album Who Built The Moon? is sitting pretty at the top of the charts as we type.

The 50-year-old cosmic rocker will have to wait until Friday to find out if - like estranged brother Liam - he's landed a 2017 number one.

We doubt Liam would even mention it if he failed to reach the top. Honest.

Anyway, the singer/songwriter has been speaking to our entertainment correspondent Colin Paterson about his new album, re-opening the Manchester Arena and his daughter getting tattoos done without his permission.

He also told follicly-challenged Colin that he'd quit music if he went ever bald.

Don't worry Colin, we know you're still rock 'n' roll to the core.

Noel took his full head of hair around the corner from his house to the BBC Maida Vale studios on Friday to perform with his new-look High Flying Birds.

They performed a short set for Steve Lamacq, which included two new tracks from the record plus an old Oasis classic...and we do mean classic.

For those of you that didn't guess it from our opening picture today, the Compton rapper has topped another end of year album list.

Rolling Stone Magazine in the States agrees with Q Magazine over here that Ken's record Damn was the hottest of 2017.

They describe it as:

Sam Smith is the only Brit to make the top 10 (10th exactly) but Tay Tay's Reputation is potentially in tatters down in seventh.

Foo Fighters narrowly avoid the wooden spoon after their latest release Concrete and Gold comes in 49th while U2's forthcoming Songs of Experience is ranked third, which is cracking effort given that it's not out until Friday.

How on earth do they know?

BBC Sound of 2018 listee Khalid is in sixth place with his LP American Teen while Lorde's Melodrama - which the NME ranked numero uno - has to settle for second-place.

Frank Ocean has fans all in a tizz with a post on his Tumblr page which seems to suggest he has another album under his belt.

The R&B singer took four years between his debut album Channel Orange and his visual album Endless, which he quickly followed up with Blond.

Frank's Tumblr page contains the following message, external: "WELL I️ MADE THE ALBUM BEFORE 30. I️ JUST AINT PUT THAT BITCH OUT!” - QUOTES FROM AN INTERVIEW I️ HAVEN’T GIVEN HAHA"

What do we think? Are his fans jumping the gun a bit, Is he merely having some fun? I guess we'll wait and see...

In the meantime, the singer has made his Endless album, external available on vinyl.

Morrissey has said he will not give another print interview at a gig in Chicago.

It follows a barrage of criticism for an interview he gave in Germany last week in which he defended Kevin Spacey over allegations of sexual assault.

He was attacked by many artists including Garbage's Shirley Manson who said he had "lost the plot".

At the weekend, in an interview with The Sunday Times, Morrissey apparently refused to back down, reportedly telling the paper: "You must be careful as far as ‘sexual harassment’ is concerned because often it can be just a pathetic attempt at courtship".

Now, speaking to fans between songs at the gig at Chicago’s Riviera Theatre, he said: "Let me just say this – that was the last print interview I will ever do.”

"And unless you see the words form in my mouth... I didn’t say it."

While we were all getting out of bed in the UK, a snappily dressed (standard) Harry Styles was picking up his award for best international male at the Aria's in Australia.

The singer caused a stir on the Sydney red carpet as he arrived in his purple suit and gold square shoes.

Just take a second to admire that combo (above) cobbers.

As well as Harry, winners so far at the Aussie equivalent of the Brit Awards, have included Gang of Youths, Paul Kelly, Barnsey, Kasey Chambers and AB Original.

Other than Stylesy's shoes, the highlight so far appears to have come from Kiwi superstar Lorde's dramatic live performance of her tracks Liability and Green Light.

Bedfordshire rockers Don Broco say claims of sexual misconduct made against frontman Rob Damiani have been "publicly retracted".

The band issued a statement (below) saying "an unreserved apology" had been issued, which they have accepted.

The singer had strongly denied the allegations which surfaced on social media earlier this month.

The band said: "We would like to draw a line under this whole matter so we can all move on."

No sooner had the girls brought their Glory Days album tour to an emotional end in London on Sunday night than the new Summer Hits Tour 2018 was announced.
