Young musicians from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama present some of Dutilleux’s intricate chamber music, including the wonderfully fluent string quartet Ainsi la nuit, considered by many to be one of the finest quartets of the post-war period. The Sonatine for flute and piano takes a very French tradition into enigmatic new realms while the darker Les citations pays homage to a composer who died fighting in the Second World War.
