Principal Guest Conductor, Ben Gernon, marks his first BBC Philharmonic concert of 2018 with a live broadcast for BBC Radio 3.
This afternoon opens with the overture to Rossini’s ‘The Barber of Seville’, one of the most loved and best recognized works in the opera repertoire.
Norwegian pianist Christian Ihle Hadland is today’s soloist for Mozart’s youthful, yet bold and experimental Piano Concerto No 9.
Closing the concert is Stravinsky’s Le chant du rossignol (‘The Song of the Nightingale’), a symphonic poem using music from his opera based on a story by Hans Christian Andersen.
This concert is a live broadcast for BBC Radio 3 with presenter Tom Redmond.
