One to write home about

Brighton’s Dear Prudence took their name from a cover of The Beatles’ song of the same name by Siouxsie and The Banshees. Along with The Cure and Depeche Mode, the post-punk group are a huge influence on the band, especially their passionate frontwoman Madi Poncia.

It’s pop music with hooks and choruses but certainly not superficial - the electronic beats and Madi’s lyrics are thought-provoking and often quite dark. The tales of loneliness and fragility that pierce tracks like Valentine and China Doll are immediately effective on record and sure to defrost a few of the icier hearts at Reading & Leeds.
