Gál’s Cello Concerto was first performed in Sweden in 1950 Here, BBC Radio 3 presenter Andrew McGregor, together with Raphael Wallfisch, outline the composer’s life and some of the many influences which came to bear on his creative style. The BBC SSO conducted by Grant Llewellyn plays some specially selected examples of his music and then Raphael Wallfisch performs the Concerto complete.
