New owner for Weymouth FC

Local businessman Malcolm Curtis is confirmed as the new owner of Weymouth football club. Listen to BBC Radio Solent's interviews and audio, taken from the press conference for the announcement.

Local businessman Malcolm Curtis is the new owner of Weymouth football club.

At a press conference on Friday 19 October, former owner Mel Bush announced he'd completed a deal to sell the club to Wessex Park limited, Curtis' company.

Curtis was quick to allay fans fears that the Wessex stadium would be sold for redevelopment.

He said that the Radipole Park site and the stadium would remain a Weymouth club asset.

Weymouth FC Chief Executive Gary Calder told BBC Radio Solent that the new owner is to arrange a fans' forum for November 1, and said the future for the club is positive.
