And according to him, it could be just as eventful as the last! Well, if last season was anything to go by, Weymouth fans can expect another eventful season in the National Conference. So what's happened since the Terras finished a creditable 11th in the table on their return to the division? For a start, the dust has settled since music promoter Mel Bush took over from former Chairman Martyn Harrison and player manager Jason Tindall has 6 months under his belt at the Wessex Stadium. ![]() New chairman Mel Bush The former Cherries utility man had a frustrating few weeks as he waited for Harrison's eventual departure, but he then lost no time in signing up his stalwarts, and recruiting new faces to the club. Perhaps one of the most interesting moves was to bring in his former Bournemouth team-mate Marcus Browning. The battling midfielder will certainly add some steel to the Terras side but will also adopt the role of Number two to Tindall himself. As for the new additions, former Southampton defender Kyle Critchell got the ball rolling as he returned to his local area, soon to be followed by the likes of the former Watford midfielder Paulo Vernazza and striker Jefferson Louis from Havant and Waterlooville. ![]() The Terras in training Stuart Douglas and Justin Roberts are also involved in the new campaign as are ex-Swindon Youth stars Jonathan Stewart and Scott Doe. There will still be some familiar faces though from the 2006-2007 season. Defenders Trevor Challis, Ashley Vickers and Nerada Bernard all return for a new term but the key renewals may lie in midfield and up front. Nick Crittenden and Danny Phillips return to the centre of the park and Stuart Beavon will be hoping to emulate his electrifying start to his Weymouth career. We mustn't forget that man Jason Matthews too. He saved all three penalties he faced last season, oh, and scored from open play - not bad for a keeper... As expected some players have moved onto pastures new. Roy O'Brien moved to neighbours Dorchester and both Tony James and Rafael Nade have both left the club. The pre-season has included a trip to Croatia as well as some local fixtures against Ringwood and Bournemouth. The season gets underway with a home game on Saturday 11 August against Halifax Town …..the seasonal games against Salisbury City should be just one highlight in another action-packed season!
