I've just bought a house and it is going up in value very fast. I hope they don't drop. But it's hard for first time buyers.
Ann Holmes spacerAnn Holmes
It's a good thing in a way as it stops undesirables getting a house. But it's bad as young ones on a minumum wage can't buy, although it shows we're starting to prosper in Cumbria.

Sarah
Houses have doubled in value. I would spend money on what I've got and stay there.

Annette
It's good the way house prices have gone up.

Ivy
It's shocking! Youngsters have no chance of a decent house.

William
I Don't know what house prices are up to. Wages round here don't match the prices.

Miss Elliott
It's disgusting. I sold a 2-bedroom terrace house for £25,000 which I'd had rewired and new windows put in a few years ago. My neighbour recently sold the same type of house for £45,000.

John
I'm not going to change my house now - I'm too old. It will be rough for others who are going to move house.
Noeleen
The house prices have gone up really high. We were lucky - we had a council house for some years so we had the opportunity to buy it. I feel sorry for young ones and first time buyers.
Victor
It doesn't give young people a chance at all. House prices are over-exaggerated.

Dr Rupert Van Steelburgh
Mrs. els nieuwkerk-dorrestijn i would say to you to move to Barrow-In-Furness Cumbria as there is a lot of investment at the moment and house prices are set to rocket in 2008-09.

d'exea
we moved to cumbria with our big family and bought the biggest most expensive house we could. Unbelievably the rebuild cost for insurance purposes was 50% than the price we paid. That is definitely not the case further south
