Presenter Matt Baker visits Bassenthwaite in Cumbria for a bird watching session. He learns more about the bird by talking with Osprey project volunteers, Sandra Shaw and Brian White. Matt finds out that the Osprey bird has been absent for 150 years and came back in 2001 to Bassenthwaite, Cumbria to breed. It is an ideal place for the bird to breed and feed their young as the lake has lots of fish. Seventy volunteers are involved in ensuring the birds are not disturbed whilst they are nesting. At only five weeks old, the Osprey bird can not fly and pretends to be dead. The Nature of BritainWatch films from your region from the Nature of Britain series on BBC One.
