Your Community - Eden Overview

Want to know something about the community you live in or what makes it so great? This is the gateway to your community page where you can read what other members of your community have written. See if your community has been listed below yet.

Despite its tranquil setting now, Eden was witness to many skirmishes between warring groups of people during earlier centuries. It is easily accessible as it is served by both the west coast mainline railway and the M6. Prior to the construction of the M6 in Cumbria, the A6 was a very busy route for travellers, but it has now become a delightful scenic drive which is well worth taking time out for. The river Eden has a strong presence in the area which has played its part in history by offering natural protection against attack thereby encouraging settlements to develop. It also attracts many walkers to take in the beauty of a riverside walk and has been known to unleash its incredible force when in flood.

This community information page is still in progress - communities will be added as the BBC bus makes its way around the county. If you would like to add an entry, come and visit us on the bus, or e-mail some facts about your community to [email protected].
