Second time roundI will love you for always because that’s how we’re meant to be, sweetheart, partners, lovers for all eternity. Years ago when we first wed when life was fresh and new who thought we’d stand here still in love and say again I do. Would youWould you do it all again Would you say I do again Would you after all this time Would you repeat your marriage lines? | | Poet laureate Jo Roberts |
I would do it all again I would be your bride again I would with you my vows renew I would, you know, I’d say I do. Our WeddingFamily friends and next door neighbours all chipped in to make our day, me decked out in ration fashion you on special leave that day. Auntie Violet in her fur coat even though it was warm that day, bridesmaid Edie in navy two piece chasing the best man most of the day. The registrar who got your name wrong must have married so many that day that trestle table in the scout hut with chairs we’d borrowed for the day. The crates of beer from Uncle Leslie because he couldn’t make the day, the champagne, just a single bottle bought with savings for a rainy day. Wedding cake with cardboard icing looked the real thing on the day Home made cards, home made presents too many to open on the day. Taking the train down south to London a chance to relax after a busy day, our first night alone as Mr and Mrs the perfect wedding, the perfect day. Now we shall relive that moment renew those vows we made that day throughout the years we’ve been together our love’s grown stronger day by day. There’s many that will not be with us but we’ll remember them this day as others share our celebrations when we say I do on Valentine’s Day. |
