BBC Writers Open Call opportunity accepts script submissions once a year. Both new and experienced writers from across the UK and Republic of Ireland can submit an original drama or comedy/drama script of at least 30 pages written for film, TV, radio, or stage. For further terms and conditions, as well as information on how and when to submit a script to BBC Writers, please visit their website
Please note that BBC Writers does not commission or produce the scripts submitted to Open Call so they should not be sent in with this expectation, nor does BBC Writers act as the production or script department for BBC programming. The opportunity is designed to identify and support writers’ careers through bespoke and unpaid screenwriting development schemes. For further information on how BBC Writers works, please read this blog post: How We Find and Develop Writers.
You can find a host of other writing opportunities from the BBC and across the industry on the BBC Writers Opportunities page. If you are interested in opportunities with BBC Comedy then visit the BBC Comedy Commissioning website.
There is currently no process by which BBC Content takes unsolicited ideas from the public. If you are interested in finding out more about the commissioning process, please refer to the BBC Commissioning website.
