Supporting companies and talent in the Nations and English regions
Growing production across the UK

We believe it’s vital the BBC develops ideas and produces programmes with a rich range of stories and perspectives across all four Nations, and that companies in the Nations and regions play a vital role in creating the next generation of on and off-screen talent.
We have committed to spending at least 60% of our Network commissioning budget in the Nations and English regions by 2027.
What we do
Co-commission with commissioning teams in the Nations. Find out more.
Provide named Nations and English regions commissioning leads in each Network genre to give tailored advice and support to local producers. Find a list and contact details for each below.
Regularly brief producers in each Nation and offer targeted opportunities for companies in the Nations and English regions which are advertised on this website.
Provide bespoke business support through our Small Indie Fund, which is targeted at production companies based out of London as well as diverse-led companies.
Partner with screen agencies and organisations such as Screen Scotland, Creative Wales, Northern Ireland Screen, Create Central and North East Screen to support the strategic development of the sector across the UK.
BBC Writer has a central hub in Salford with bases in Glasgow, Belfast and Cardiff with assistant commissioners based in each of these areas to support the BBC TV drama commissioning editors and lead on new writer development across the UK.
