Robert is the latest in a long line of luminaries to come second: Wise, Ball, Saunders, Pin, Baddiel, Herring, McCartney, and now Webb.

Best known as Jeremy Osborne in Peep Show, Robert has also appeared on his own in The Smoking Room, My Family, The Comic Side of Seven Days, Ben Elton's Blessed and People Like Us.

With David, he's written and performed an episode in Twisted Tales, a series of stylish but funny horror stories on BBC Three.

There was also a single series of The Mitchell and Webb Situation (2001) on Play UK and two series of the BBC Radio 4 sketch show That Mitchell and Webb Sound (2003 and 2005).

Both Mitchell and Webb also wrote for and appeared in the legendary BBC sketch show Bruiser, which featured hitherto-unknown talents like Martin Freeman, Matthew Holness, and some writer called Gervais.

Oh, and he gets his kit off in the film Confetti.
