BBC Comedy FAQ

Shows and artists

  1. I've got a message for the star of a show! Could you send me their address or pass on a message?

We do not give out addresses for performers to members of the public. If you wish to write to an artist, your best bet is to do so via their agent. Agent information can usually be found easily on the web at sites such as The Spotlight - simply search for the name of the artist.

  2. When will a certain show be on TV?

Because schedules aren't fixed until close to the date of transmission, we can't tell you any further in advance when a programme will be on. Instead you should consult BBC What's On or your preferred listings guide for the near future.

  3. Can I get a copy of a show for my own personal use?

Sadly it is not possible for us to send you a copy of a particular show on DVD or video. Please check that it is not yet commercially available.

  4. I was in a BBC production - can I get a copy?

If you've made a significant contribution to a BBC TV programme (for example, if you were a performer or a member of the production team), you can request a contributor's copy of the show if it is held in the archives.

Visit the Contributor Access Terms and Conditions for eligibility information and to apply online.

  5. Where can I comment on the BBC's output?

If you would like to make a formal complaint, please visit the BBC Complaints site.

If you have a general comment about a BBC programme or service and wish to share it with others, you can join the discussion at the Points of View messageboard.

  6. How can I contact the producers of a show?

If you wish to get in touch with a production team, send us your details and we will attempt to contact them on your behalf. Please note that we will not pass on any questions which are addressed in this FAQ - this includes work experience and contributing to programmes.

  7. Could you send me a photograph or autograph of my favourite artist?

Sadly we cannot supply autographs or photos. However, quite often we give away signed programme-related goods as prizes in our competitions - check our Quizzes page to see what's currently on offer, or sign up to our newsletter.

  8. Where can I get a prop, costume or piece of furniture like in a particular show?

The bbc.co.uk/comedy web team are unable to provide the sources of items of clothing and furniture, or schematics of set layouts, or props featured in programmes. Often these objects have been created or adapted specially for the purpose, or found second hand.

  9. Can the BBC donate an item for a charity fundraising event?

We get a lot of requests of this nature. Unfortunately the BBC cannot provide these kinds of materials. Instead you should write to specific artists - your best bet is to write to a patron of the area of charity work that you are supporting.

For information regarding charity appeals on the BBC, see this page for details.
