What is Remembrance Day?

Remembrance Day is a day to commemorate all those who fought to protect their country. It began after the First World War and involved the Army, the Navy and the Airforce who make up our armed forces. It’s a time of reflection to think about what they sacrificed and what that means for us. It’s observed with parades, the sounding of bugles or trumpets, and a period of silence. People lay wreathes and wear poppies to honour the fallen.
