What are Pokémon types?

All Pokémon have different types, they are how we catagorise most Pokémon, and decide which moves they can use. The types include:

Normal - Pokémon of this type are very common and aren't normally super-effective against any other type.
Fire - Pokémon of this type are normally rarer, dealing powerful blasts of fire-based attacks.
Fighting - Pokémon of this type are expert fighters, known for their quick but fierce attacks.
Water - Pokémon of this type are found in ponds, lakes and the ocean, normally resembling aquatic-like creatures.
Flying - Pokémon of this type are normally birds and insects who take to the sky in glorious airborne moves.
Grass - Pokémon of this type are normally plants, and although weak, they have powerful attacks and can paralyse or put other Pokémon to sleep.
Poison - Pokémon of this type are normally deadly, known for their moves like 'Toxic' which can poison another Pokémon.
Electric - Pokémon of this type are fully charged, unleashing electrifying attacks that can often paralyze another Pokémon.
Ground - Pokémon of this type are one of the strongest offensively, knowing ground-trembling moves like 'Earthquake'.
Steel - Pokémon of this type are some of the strongest defensively, using their metallic bodies to protect themselves.
Psychic - Pokémon of this type use their raw brainpower to change the world around them and battle other Pokémon.
Rock - Pokémon of this type are rugged and tough, known for their solid attacks.
Ice - Pokémon of this type are one of the rarest and are known to live in the coldest places.
Bug - Pokémon of this type can be seen to be weak, but these insects can pack a punch in the hands of the right Trainer.
Dragon - Pokémon of this type are especially rare, needing even more training than normal to level up.
Ghost - Pokémon of this type are pretty spooky, known for possessing everything, from teacups to pumpkins.
Dark - Pokémon of this type are cunning. They’re a real threat to Psychic-type Pokémon.
Fairy - Pokémon of this type are pretty magical, known for easily defeating Dragon-type Pokémon.
