How to make Ukrainian honey biscuits

Make some simple and easy biscuit balls of goodness with this traditional Ukrainian recipe. Why not serve these at your Eurovision party!

You will need
  • 200g butter
  • 100g sugar
  • 100g honey
  • 1 egg
  • 220g wheat flour (sifted)
  • 80g cocoa powder
  • 1tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1tsp baking power
  • 50g walnuts (crushed)

Steps

  • Place your softened butter and sugar in a bowl and mix together.

  • Add the honey and blend together. Add your egg and mix.

  • Mix in the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, cinnamon and crushed walnuts.

  • Your mixture will now come together to form a nice dough. Use your hands to knead your dough on a clean surface.

  • Wrap the dough in cling film and put in the fridge for 20-40 minutes.

  • Shape your dough into small round balls of 8-10 grams each.

  • Arrange the balls in zigzag order on a baking tray lined with parchment.

  • Grab a grown-up and bake in a preheated oven at 160C for 10-15 minutes.

  • Once your biscuits have cooled, enjoy some delicious mini munches!

TOP TIP: If you don't have honey, you can replace it with the same amount of sugar.
