Radio 1’s Big Weekend Blue Peter Competition

One Blue Peter viewer aged 6-12 will have the chance to win an exciting opportunity to attend Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Sunderland and feature on Blue Peter.

You’ll get to watch all the live music plus you’ll get a backstage tour; meet some of the Radio 1 presenters and receive an Orange Blue Peter badge.

The competition opens for entries at 5pm on Friday 13th March 2026 and closes at 6pm on Wednesday 15th April 2026.

Rules for Radio 1’s Big Weekend Blue Peter Competition

1. Radio 1’s Big Weekend Blue Peter Competition (the "Competition") is open to all UK residents (including residents of the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man and children of UK armed services overseas) between 6 and 12 years of age on Wednesday 15th April 2026 (the closing date of the competition), except the children or close relatives of BBC Group employees, or any persons closely connected with Blue Peter, or BBC Radio 1. The BBC reserves the right to request proof of age for entrants as well as a parent's or guardian's permission to enter. 

2. To enter the Competition entrants must:

Log into My Blue Peter which can be accessed from the Blue Peter website.

Answer three multiple choice questions to test your Radio 1’s Big Weekend knowledge.

Submit via My Blue Peter 

3. Entry is online only, with My Blue Peter which can be accessed from the Blue Peterwebsite. You will need a BBC account to enter, which means you have a username and password you can use to sign in to the CBBC website. To get a BBC account, a parent or guardian clicks on any 'Register' link and follows the instructions. Postal or email entries cannot be accepted.

4. Only one entry per person may be submitted. No joint entries will be allowed. If more than one entry is received from an entrant, we will accept the first entry received and disregard the others.

5. The entrant and parent/guardian will need to submit all the information requested in My Blue Peter and as set out in the Privacy Notice including a telephone number and/or email which must allow us to contact the parent/guardian. Entrants will need their parent or guardian permission to enter the Competition and ensure that they (the parent / guardian) have read the Rules and Privacy Notice.

6. Entries must be RECEIVED no later than 6pm on Wednesday 15th April 2026. Late entries will be disqualified. The BBC cannot take any responsibility for any technical failure or malfunction which may result in an entry being delayed, or not properly registered or recorded.

7. From all correct entries, ten entries and standbys will be selected randomly; ten entries will be put forward to the verification stage. 

8. The Blue Peter Team will contact the 10 selected entries’ parents or guardians between Friday 17th April and Friday 24th April by telephone to check eligibility. If we are unable to make contact by Wednesday 22nd April via telephone or email, Blue Peter reserves the right to contact a standby. If an entrant is unable to be contacted after reasonable attempts have been made to do so, on Friday 24th April at 10am they will be disqualified from the competition.

The team will arrange a video call (we will ask you if you need any accessibility adjustments) the video call will be recorded, and the Blue Peter team will speak to the parent or guardian and then speak to the child. The conversation will be informal and friendly; it will be recorded so that a short clip can be shared with the judges. 

The conversation will help us to judge:

  • An interest in Radio 1’s Big Weekend and Blue Peter

  • An interest in taking part in filming and seeing behind the scenes

  • Confidence in communicating your interest in music and Radio 1’s Big Weekend. 

9. The judging stage will be carried out by a judging panel of representatives from Blue Peter (including Ellen Evans, Editor of Blue Peter as Head Judge) The panel will choose one winner and 1 back-up entry as standby.

10. The prizes consist of: 

1st Prize: 1 Winner

You (and one parent or guardian) will have the opportunity to visit Radio 1’s Big Weekend at Herrington Country Park in Sunderland. 23rd/24th May 2026.

2 x General Admission tickets (child and parent or guardian) for Radio 1’s Big Weekend on Saturday and Sunday.

You will get a backstage tour which you will attend with the Blue Peter team.

You will receive an Orange Blue Peter competition winner’s badge.

Top Runners up (x 9)

You will receive an Orange Blue Peter competition winner’s badge.

We reserve the right to change the prize due to editorial/production considerations including any restrictions which may be imposed or extended due to unforeseeable circumstances.

11. By submitting an entry for the Competition, the entrant’s parent/guardian are deemed to have given permission for their child/ward to be filmed during their time on location by the Blue Peter Production team, BBC Studios and production partners in all media and platforms, including television, print and internet, for all purposes as it wishes, in line with the BBC Child Protection Policy to prevent jigsaw identification of any entrant. 

12. The BBC will obtain an appropriate child license for the winner. A licensed chaperone will accompany the child for the filming. The parent/guardian of the winner will be required to sign contributor release forms on behalf of their child/ward and allow the BBC to use the contributions in all media for all purposes.

13. The BBC's conditions on contributions apply to the Competition Rules and entry is subject to the BBC’s Terms of Use. The parent or guardian will also need to agree to BBC Radio 1’s Live Events terms as well as the competition rules. The 2025 Event Terms and Conditions are HERE.

14. Reasonable travel, food, and accommodation costs will be provided by the BBC for the winning child and one parent or guardian to attend the winner’s experience for two nights: Friday 22nd May and Saturday 23rd, filming is planned for Saturday 23rd and/or Sunday 24th May 2026.

15. At Blue Peter, we welcome entries from children of all abilities and needs. Our aim is to be inclusive – please inform us of anything which may require reasonable adjustments to enable you to enter and to fulfil the prize. 

16. The prizes will be as stated. The prizes cannot be transferred, and there is no cash alternative.

17. The competition winner will be notified on Wednesday 29th April by telephone, as per the contact details provided in their entry. In the event of a winner being unable to be contacted, after reasonable attempts have been made, or if a winner is found to be in breach of the rules, or fails to take up their prize for any reason including illness, unavailability, problems in having consent for absence from school, licensing difficulties, or problems with obtaining notice from their doctor regarding state of health to participate, the BBC reserves the right to offer the prize to the standby but it is not obliged to do so. If an entrant has not been contacted by Wednesday 29th April, unfortunately they are not a competition winner. The 9 Runners-Up will be awarded an Orange Blue Peter competition winner’s badge.

18. The BBC's and the judges' decision as to the winner is final. No correspondence relating to the Competition will be entered into.

19. Entrants will be expected to take part in post-Competition publicity for the BBC.

20. The BBC reserves the right to cancel the Competition or change any of these Rules at any stage if deemed necessary in its opinion or if circumstances arise outside of its control. Any such changes will be duly communicated. The BBC cannot be held responsible for any unforeseen events relating to, or the cancellation of any related element of this Competition outside of the control of the BBC. The BBC reserves the right to disqualify any entrant who breaches these Rules, has acted fraudulently in any way or has brought the BBC into disrepute.

21. The parent/guardian of an entrant is deemed to have accepted these Rules when giving permission to the entry of the relevant entrant.

22. If any of the prize details must change, all efforts will be made to fulfil an equivalent experience for the winner.

23. The competition complies with the BBC Code of Conduct for Competitions and Voting.

24. The BBC, BBC Studios, Blue Peter, Radio 1’s Big Weekend and any other organisation associated with the Competition accepts no liability for any damage, loss, liabilities (including direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive damage) injury or disappointment incurred or suffered by you as a result of entering the Competition, not being able to enter the Competition or accepting any of the prizes. Nothing shall exclude the liability of the above parties for (i) fraud, (ii) for death or personal injury as a result of that party's negligence, or (iii) any other cause of action which cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law. In no event shall the BBC and/or any other organisation associated with the Competition’s total liability to you for all damages, losses, or causes of action exceed the price of the relevant prize.

25. If any of these clauses should be determined to be illegal, invalid, or otherwise unenforceable, then it shall be severed and deleted from these Rules, and the remaining clauses shall survive, remain in full force and effect.

26. These Rules shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any claim, dispute or matter arising under or in connection with these Rules.

27. Blue Peter is a production created by BBC Studios Kids & Family Productions and BBC Studios Kids & Family Productions are solely responsible for the Radio 1’s Big Weekend Blue Peter Competition.
