Check out this stunning footage of starlings coming in to roost, captured by a contributor to the BBC North East Wales website.

Craig Smith, a volunteer warden at Marchwiel Marsh, near Wrexham, got in touch after filming the birds' display earlier this month.

The reasons for these spectacular cloud-like gatherings which can involve hundreds of thousands of birds, have yet to be established for certain although it's believed the behaviour is intended to confuse predators.

Want to see more starlings?

We'd love to hear from you if you've spotted starlings flocking in your area. You can also upload pictures or videos via the BBC Wales Nature Flickr group.
