I hope you had a good Christmas - it wasn’t a white one for much of Wales but low pressure did bring some snow to parts of mid and north Wales on Boxing Day.

We’ve had some very cold nights recently. At Pembrey on the Carmarthenshire coast the temperature dropped to minus 6.7°Celsius yesterday – this was the lowest temperature recorded anywhere in Wales so far this year and the lowest temperature in Pembrey since February 2012!
Usk in Monmouthshire was one of the coldest places in Wales last night with temperatures falling below minus 5 ° Celsius but it wasn’t frosty everywhere - Anglesey stayed well above freezing point with a breeze coming off the sea.

The high pressure responsible for the recent dry, settled spell is now moving away and the weather is on the change. Tonight will be less cold while tomorrow will be a much cloudier, milder and breezier day with some patchy rain and drizzle on New Year’s Eve night - especially in the north-west.
New Year’s Day will be mild and windy with temperatures reaching 12 or 13° Celsius. Spots of drizzle are likely but parts of mid and north Wales should be dry and bright for a time. However rain will spread from the north-west during the afternoon and evening – some of this rain will be heavy with gales.
