Make the most of Saturday as low pressure looms

The poet John Keats described autumn as the "season of mists and mellow fruitfulness."

While George Eliot wrote "Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns."

We’ve had a few misty mornings recently and some lovely sunrises and sunsets too. Here are few photos from my Twitter feed recently:

The weather has been quite changeable this week with some dry weather and sunshine but also some cloud and rain, with fronts moving in from the Atlantic.

Looking ahead to the weekend, Saturday will bring an improvement, becoming dry and brighter.

North, west and mid Wales will enjoy the best of the sunshine with top temperatures around 14 to 16 Celsius with a moderate north to north-westerly breeze.

Saturday night will be fine and chilly with ground frost in the countryside.

However, the weather is set to go downhill on Sunday with a deep area of low pressure, the first of the autumn, bringing rain and strong winds.

Sunday 15 September, shows an area of deep low pressure

Gusts around 45mph are likely on exposed coasts in the south and west with gales on the hills and mountains.

If you’re going to the watch the cricket at the Swalec Stadium in Cardiff on Saturday, for the England v Australia match, most of the day should be dry.

The Usk Show is also taking place on Saturday; it will feel cool with a high of only 14 or 15 Celsius but at least it will be mostly dry with hopefully a little sunshine.

Festival Number 6 is taking place in Portmeirion this weekend. Saturday will be dry with some sunshine but the waterproofs will definitely come in handy on Sunday.

Next week, Monday will be drier, brighter and colder with a chilly and blustery wind.

On Tuesday more rain is expected with a risk of strong winds in the south.
