Mixed bag for bank holiday weekend

As we approach the bank holiday weekend, the weather is still looking very mixed.

There is some rain in the forecast but the weather will improve throughout the weekend, so it won't be a total wash out.

Today is a glorious day across much of Wales with the cloud breaking up nicely and feeling warm in the sunshine with light winds.

The warm weather is triggering the odd shower, especially in the north but they are fairly hit and miss and most of us will get away with a dry day, 19C on Anglesey and 24C for Usk.

Tonight should be a quiet night with clear skies and light winds - the perfect recipe for some mist and fog to form. The air is still fairly warm and humid so the overnight temperatures will remain high, between 13-15C.

Friday will start off fine and dry but a front will bring thicker cloud in from the west with patchy, light rain arriving in western parts during late morning.

Throughout the afternoon the rain will spill further inland but it will still feel warm with highs of 20-23C.

Overnight and into Saturday morning, the rain will intensify and there is a Met Office yellow warning for north east Wales.

Up to 40mm of rainfall is possible (almost 2 inches) so we could see some surface water flooding.

I’m afraid Saturday will be a rather miserable day - with cloud, rain, blustery conditions and cooler temperatures.

The wet weather will clear by Saturday afternoon though, and Sunday and Monday look like much better days with more sunshine, lighter winds and fewer showers!

It wouldn't be a bank holiday weekend if we didn't have a little bit of rain :)
