Porthmadog was the warmest place in the UK on Tuesday, when the temperatures reached a high 21°C. We're doing very well considering the average temperature for September is 16.6°C.

The west really has been best this week, in terms of sunshine and warm temperatures. Further inland we've had a bit more cloud with hints of brightness. Thursday should be the best day of the week, most of us seeing the sunshine and it will feel warm. The temperatures should get up as high as 23°C in Gwynedd and for most areas around 20 to 21°C. However if you are thinking of heading to the coast, do take an extra layer as it will be a bit breezy.

Met Office pressure chart for Thursday

The pressure chart for Friday shows low pressure sitting to the west. With that the weather will turn more unsettled. A bright and breezy start to our Friday morning and then cloud will increase from the south west. Some patchy rain will follow late afternoon. Friday night is wet and windy. The rain will then clear by the start of the weekend. Saturday afternoon looks bright and breezy with highs of 17°C. If you are going to Proms in the Park in Swansea it should be a dry evening, but it will be chilly so take plenty of layers.

Sunday looks pretty unsettled too with on and off light rain and some brighter spells. The changeable theme continues for the start of next week. We could even see some gales or possibly severe gales for exposed areas.

Mike Hillen was up early enough to capture this beautiful sunrise in Pembrokeshire while most of us were asleep, thank you for that. Have a lovely weekend!
