Cut On The Bias: clothes worth a read

The stories are all about women and the clothes they wear. Don't think it's some sort of women's magazine fiction as the stories are a clever mix of emotions and hinge on the different roles clothes play in women's lives. There are clothes as armour, objects of desire, comfortable friends and malevolent enemies.

Personally I love short stories. As we're all so pressed for time it's fantastic to be able to finish a piece of fiction in one sitting rather than to have to stop at the end of a chapter when something else needs doing.

The short story form, when it's done well, is also a real example of beautifully crafted writing that doesn't compromise on narrative or depth just by keeping the word count down. Cut On The Bias is a great read so look out for it in the bookshops in January.
