Cemlyn: the movie

Martin Aaron

Following one of the most successful seasons ever at Cemlyn Nature Reserve on Anglesey, a new short film Cemlyn, has been produced featuring the Cemlyn Bioblitz event and the daily activities of the two summer wardens.

The film gives a flavour of the wildlife at the site, and explores the conservation and education work done by the North Wales Wildlife Trust (NWWT).

Despite the atrocious weather in June many fascinating birds, bugs, plants and sea-creatures were recorded and officially documented by Cofnod, the local biological record centre.

The film captured the important work of the 2012 summer wardens, David Wright and Kathy James, who carried out round-the-clock monitoring and protection of Cemlyn’s record-breaking tern colony.

The 2012 season proved to be the best ever for the rare sandwich tern, with over 2,000 nests being recorded.
