Rocketgoldstar in session

Adam Walton

This week's show is now available via the BBC iPlayer. Please listen again any time between now and the start of the next programme.

Cardiff's Rocketgoldstar were one of the very first bands to record a session for an earlier incarnation of this programme, back in 2000. They return this week with a brilliant, new session to coincide with a one-off gig they performed last night at The Globe in Cardiff.

The three members of the band have played with - and worked with (engineering, session work, mastering...) - a multitude of Wales' most prominent artists, but never really received the acclaim they deserved for their own music. It's well worth investigating, as their two new tracks illustrate.

Lara Catrin helps baste our festive juices by translating something typically wondrous from Trwbador.

Ben 'Soundhog' Hayes takes us back to the 1930s with something inspirational and timeless from Al Bowlly.

Elsewhere there a wheelbarrow laden with intriguing new Welsh sounds, including debut plays for LiA, When Worlds Collide, Hawaii, Y Pencadlys, Byterate, Ceri James, Siddi, Sculpture, Stark, Gypsy Wine Cartel, Birdcage & The Shaws.

Please submit your music to the show via the BBC Introducing Uploader or as a download link via email to themysterytour@gmail.com.

Next week is part one of my end of year show: a celebration of my favourite Welsh sounds of 2012. It's a remarkable array of talent featuring noises from every shade on the sonic spectrum.

Ahem.
