Not that it was in any doubt, but Dewi Griffiths was a showman til the very last yesterday. At 10.25am, everyone turned up the radio to find out what the final ever song on A String of Pearls would be, only to hear him say "you'll have to listen to the Evening Edition to find out".
The 8pm show is six minutes longer than the morning version (as there's no news junction at 8pm) and there has always been time to play two or three extra songs. So good thinking on Mr G's part to drive the audience to come back. Those who did heard him announce that he'd be back with A String of Christmas Pearls in December.
As for that final song, it was… well, if you don't know, have a listen to the show. And while you're on the site, check out the picture gallery of Dewi's 60 years in the BBC: this picture with Swap Shop's Keith Chegwin is my favourite.

It's also worth a listen back to Saturday's Money for Nothing at the Porthcawl Elvis Festival. It is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. I'm not sure how many Elvises are signed up to do the Cardiff Half Marathon on Sunday but we know that over 20,000 people are planning to run it. For the first time, we're on air between 8.45am and 11am for live coverage of one of the UK's biggest races. Jason Mohammad, Alex Winters, Llinos Lee and former European and Commonwealth Games champion Matt Elias are your hosts.
To keep up the theme, we're saluting The Welshman Who Got Britain Running, on Saturday at 1.30pm, a profile of the co-founder of the London Marathon and former Olympic medalist John Disley.
Saturday features like the John Disley profile always have a repeat slot on a Sunday evening, and as of this week, that slot moves an hour later to 6pm. Frank's Celtic Heartbeat will start at 7pm with Beverley's World of Music (complete with a few of Dewi's pearls weaved in) starting at 9pm. Earlier in the day, Aled Jones starts a new series at his new time of 1pm. His first guest is baritone, Sir Thomas Allen.
The one and only Stephen Fry is Eleri Siôn's guest on Tuesday. On Wednesday, Eleri will be hosting a live session from Martin Carr. The Cardiff-based former Boo Radley is the Radio Wales Artist of the Week. You can hear his new song St Peter In Chains across the station all this week.
Finally, many congratulation to Europe's Ryder Cup hero Jamie Donaldson. The most famous man to ever come from Pontypridd (apart from the other one) joins Steffan Garrero on tonight's Radio Wales Sport to talk about his momentous weekend.
