The weather this March has been much kinder to us compared to last year which was bitterly cold with frost, ice and snow.
March 2013 was actually the coldest for more than 50 years and it was even colder than the winter months.
When it comes to spring, there is always some debate as to when it actually starts.
The Met Office takes the first day of March while others say the start of the season coincides with the vernal equinox tomorrow when the sun is overhead at the equator.

At this time of year, the sun rises higher in the sky in the northern hemisphere and as a result we all enjoy lighter evenings, but spring can be a fickle season.
One day it's warm enough to be in shorts and t-shirts - the next we find ourselves rushing for the winter woollies and turning up the heating.
Today the temperature at Trawsgoed in Ceredigion reached a mild 14°C but there's a change on the way.
Tomorrow an active cold front will move south east across Wales bringing a spell of heavy rain and a drop in temperature.

By Friday it will feel colder everywhere and we're in for a chilly weekend with a mixture of sunshine and showers.
Some of the showers will be heavy and wintry with hail and sleet and a risk of thunder. The showers will also fall as snow on some hills and mountains.
Daytime temperatures will be between 6 to 10°C, while at night temperatures will fall close to freezing or even below.
It looks like Sunday night into Monday morning will be particularly cold and gardeners should be aware of Jack Frost!
