Tonight our nine remaining couples packed up their sequins and travelled to the Vegas of the North that is Blackpool. They lit up the Golden Mile with a series of dazzling performances that saw the Judges shower the magical Tower Ballroom with 10s.
Natalie and Artem’s crazy Charleston, Susanna and Kevin’s passionate Paso and Abbey and Aljaz’s amazing Quickstep all received three 10s but ultimately it was Susanna and Kevin and Natalie and Artem that tied at the top of the Leaderboard. With 39 points each, they both achieved the highest score of the competition so far with the A-Team following close behind with a very impressive score of 37.
Right behind Abbey and Aljaz were Ashley and Ola who gained 35 points for their Wild West inspired Paso Doble which Craig labelled as “extraordinary”. Despite a slight wardrobe malfunction Patrick and Anya still managed to wow the Tower with their Samba to Barry Manilow’s Copacabana and were also awarded 35 points.
Fiona and Anton’s American Smooth proved to be a bit of a bumpy flight and even though Darcey called Mark and Iveta’s Jive “a show-stopping performance” it was these two couples that found themselves tied at the bottom of the Leaderboard with 29 points.
