The Lord of the Dance bows out
Last night saw Hollywood come to Borehamwood in Strictly’s annual Movie Week. But not all of our couples were feeling lucky by making it through to Week Four. Unfortunately our beloved man of the cloth, Reverend Richard Coles and his partner Dianne Buswell departed the Dancefloor.
Their time on Strictly came to close after facing Chef and presenter Simon Rimmer and Karen Clifton in the dance off.
Richard delivered an out of this world Paso Doble to the Flash Gordon theme tune, dressed as Flash Gordon. However the judges were less impressed with his dancing scoring the couple only 14. There was no denying how entertaining Richard’s Paso, Craig said, “I love the entertainment value of one couple, I really have to save the couple that are technically better and that’s Simon and Karen.”
All three of the remaining judges agreed that Simon and Karen’s Quickstep to You’ve Got a Friend in Me from Toy Story contained more technical dance content and deserved a place in Week Four with a 4-0 vote.

Tess asked Richard about his time on the show to which he replied, “It has just been a really really wonderful experience. And also it’s really important that none of this would have happened if it wasn’t for the fantastic crew, wardrobe, hair and make up, production, the fantastic band and the judges too.” Ever the comedian, he added “I only forgot to reckon into my strategy that I can’t actually dance!”
Dianne said “I have had the time of my life and he is a friend for life.” which is rather fitting really as Reddo and Revvo had their final dance to Time of My Life from Dirty Dancing. We’re going to miss our witty vicar but we’re all blessed to have had him in the competition. Amen.
Was Richard the right person leave? Leave your thoughts below. Richard and Dianne will join Zoe on the It Takes Two sofa tomorrow night at 6:30pm on BBC Two.
