Following on from the news that Aliona Vilani was injured in training yesterday, we caught up with her and Johnny...
What happened in the dance studio?
Johnny: “She just went ‘ahhh’ when we were doing this sideways step; she‘d gone over on her ankle. It’s very sad because we were getting to the point where we were just dealing with technicalities in the routine and it was going so well. There’s been a X-ray now and it seems like it’s a hairline fracture. They can take quite a while to heal especially for a dancer when she has to put her foot through what it goes through. It's so sad. I don’t know what’s going to happen now."
Aliona then gave us the news regarding her X-ray...
What did they say?
A: "I just came back from the X-ray and they found a hairline fracture on my right ankle, and i've pulled my ligaments so they gave me crutches and a boot, that weirdly matches my outfit. They told me to rest, and not to dance."
You must be upset?
A: “I’m so upset. This is so unexpected and so horrible. It happened so fast and I was in so much pain. I don’t know what’s going to happen now. I just don’t know what to think actually, I’m very sad."
It looks like Aliona will be unable to dance for 2 - 4 weeks.
Despite this unfortunate setback, Johnny is still training... with a new (temporary) partner. Yes, Ian Waite has boldly waltzed into rehearsals. You can see by the pictures that they're a perfect couple.
