Nina and Neil are first out of Strictly 2021

We never want any of our Strictly family to leave, but unfortunately it was Nina Wadia and Neil Jones who bowed out of the competition in Week Two.

The fabulous pair wowed the Judges in Week One with their energetic Samba, but didn't get quite the same reaction for last night's Tango to Eurythmics tune Would I Lie To You.

Unfortunately Nina and Neil landed bottom of the leaderboard with a score of 18, and following the public vote, faced Katie McGlynn and Gorka Marquez in the first Dance Off of the series.

Once both pairs had performed again it was over to the Judges to make their decisions. Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse opted to save Katie and Gorka, while Anton du Beke voted in Nina and Neil's favour, leaving the deciding vote to Head Judge Shirley Ballas.

“Well this is one of the closest battles I think we’ve ever had in a Dance Off. Both couples upped their game. Both couples were absolutely delightful to watch," said Shirley. "Neither couple had mistakes, so I’ve decided to go with the couple who had more advanced technical actions in their dance and that couple is Katie and Gorka.”

Sadly, this meant Nina and Neil were sent home.

When asked by Tess about their time on the show, Nina said: “It’s been really fun, thank you so much. [Neil] is incredible, thank you.”

Neil added: “You’ve been a dream. Second partner on the show for me. I wouldn’t have wanted anybody else. You’ve been fantastic and so much fun. Literally, we’re like a married couple - you’ve got both husbands here tonight! It’s been so much fun together, you said you wanted to dance and you’ve done two fantastic dances and I’m really, really, really proud of you.”

We're definitely going to miss them, however you can still catch them for one last time on It Takes Two, tomorrow on BBC Two at 6.30pm.
