Jason and Luba make their exit in Movie Week

Movie Week did not have a happy ending for Jason Bell and his partner Luba Mushtuk, as the curtains closed on their Strictly journey.

The pair performed a strong Paso Doble inspired by Star Wars on Saturday night, but the Judges didn't think it was out of this world, leaving them bottom of the leaderboard.

Once their scores had been combined with the public vote, Jason and Luba found themselves in the bottom two against Nicola Adams and her partner Katya Jones. Both couples took the dancefloor again in a bid to keep their place in the competition, but ultimately the Judges chose to save Nicola and Katya.

When justifying his decision, Judge Craig Revel Horwood said: "Well, there was a marked improvement in both performances this evening and both couples actually took the notes that we gave them, which was brilliant. But the couple I would like to save is Nicola and Katya."

Fellow Judges Motsi Mabue and Shirley Ballas agreed with him, also saving Nicola and Katya.

Despite his Strictly experience coming to an end, Jason kept his signature smile on his face, saying: "It was an opportunity of a lifetime. I had so much fun, thank you Luba. You have worked so hard with me, you’re a great friend for life and I appreciate all that you’ve done, I really do. I’ve had such a good time here."

Luba also had some touching words for Jason, saying: "You really bring the joy to my life, and I am so honoured and proud to be partnered with you. I now have a friend for life. I just want to say, to be actually able to do this show… shout out to everyone who does so much sacrifices to make this happen. It is such an honour to be here and I’m very proud of you."

We've loved watching Jason and Luba bring joy to the dancefloor every Saturday night, and you can catch them for one last time on It Takes Two, tomorrow at 6.30pm on BBC Two.
