Tree's up. Half the lights work, the others are in the bin. They lasted a few years, have served their time but it's time to say goodbye. They have seen a few festive seasons but have been pushed their luck this time. If you spend all year deliberately tangling yourself around your plug and bulbs in a manner that says 'I have invented several new, hitherto unseen knots and even though you have better things to do, you now have to sit for 5 hours untangling me' then frankly buster, you're history. I shall probably have to replace with a gaudy, flashing, multi-colour reindeer set if I'm to get up to the correct level of festive luminous flux required to sip egg nog to.
Should be good today-the mighty Rick Wakeman is in at the Elton John piano to play and be merry. Started this at 5L and had Rick in last year again. That makes it a tradition. Last time he waltzed his way around Morning Has Broken and that fantastic performance he put in on Cat Steven's recording, this year we have some festive magic and another 70's classic that he starred in. Grumpy Old Rick will be in the building!
And SCHOOL NATIVITY/SCHOOL CAROL SERVICE oldies please, for those trembly parent moments...
