So the tree's up and it's a good one. A bit saggy in the lower regions (aren't we all) but a decent spread of branches. One set of lights has given up the ghost but some others have been deputised for emergency duties; can't let any old lights on the tree, they need to have green flex and white bulbs.
Now that the kids have achieved teendom and beyond, we don't need to put any old tat on the tree just because they made it at school. But we dressed the tree with a selection of Christmas tunes playing; the usual hits plus The McGarrigle Christmas Album, Waterson:Carthy's Holy Heathens and The Old Green Men and Kate Rusby's Sweet Bells. I'm always on the lookout for new festive tunes and Mike Harding played some songs last year from a cd called Carolling and Crumpets which was great fun.
James Taylor had a lovely album out a few years ago 'James Taylor at Christmas' and Thea Gilmore's Strange Communion album is a great set of songs. Any blogger favourites? Let's take the Phil Spector album as a given...
Movie show on 5L with Peter Jackson, director of The Hobbit and then a jolly ARF and if we assume we'll have many a Yuletide tune requested, let's start with something BRILLIANT and NOISY from 1980. And heres hoping we'll have a few calls from top kids and society ladies.
