Grumbly child to school. Even with a few inches of snow on the ground, the school is open and his education proceeds apace. Or they'll all watch DVDs and lose their gloves on the way home. Anyway the weekend was dominated by the snow and before that (even more exciting) the expectation of snow. A few inches had been promised and a few inches were duly delivered-the forecast was spot on. Movies were watched, teenagers slumped with hot chocolate and fathers kept their cool when hit in the eye with a particularly well thrown iceball. Almost all my snowballs went astray which I pretended was my kind heart but was really my poor aim.

Today we have 2 American music legends on the show- Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell. They have recorded an album called Old Yellow Moon which comes out 4th March and is in that Southern Californian rock tradition of Linda Rondstadt and Gram Parsons. Emmylou has been on the show before but this is an album well worth trumpeting. Emmylou and Rodney with us from 6. And oldies today please-and keeping the American theme-for INAUGURATION DAY as Barack Obama is publicly sworn in for his 2nd term today. A new theme for you!

Have an agile and nimble Monday, see you after 5.
