Morning, cold (alright cool then) damp and gloomy here, and considered the central heating for a moment. Then toughened up and stopped being a feeble southern jessie. But I'm still cold from last night in the park, where, due to disastrous wardrobe selection, I was clad in clothes way too flimsy for September. As the skys cleared and the temperature plunged, all sensible folk produced thick sweaters and partied on regardless. The rest of us lay prostrate on the warm-ish broadcast equipment and survived that way.
As far as the gig is concerned, a huge success and thousands of happy customers. Saw Manics, J Blunt, J Groban, Jessie J and Smokey R and delightful chats with JG, JJ and (though I had lost all feeling in my feet by this time) SR. He rarely does interviews and we weren't sure he was going to come to our teepee. But he braved the snow and gales to wind the day up splendidly. Let's do it again!
Today we welcome Anthony Horowitz back to talk about the last Alex Rider novel Russian Roulette and we'll do some WRESTLING oldies please. One of the oldest olympic sports has been reinstated for the 2020 and 2024 games, chosen ahead of baseball and squash. This might not be the wrestling I remember from ITV Saturday afternoon-Big Daddy, Catweazle et al- but it'll still do nicely for some tune ideas.
Have a well-insulated and properly attired Monday. See you after 5.
